I've seen a number of Coho this season with what has to be a clipped fin that has started to regrow. It almost looks like a piece of hard spaghetti sticking out where the adipose should be. It's absolutely not a normal wild adipose, but it's not the typical healed bump either.

Sorry I don't have any pics.

So is it a hatchery fish or not and would you bonk it or not?

miss clipped, i wouldnt personally keep it.

Miss clip is my guess as well.I have seen people with them, and also get warned with them.  I would not keep it and let it go to spawn.

It's been discussed to death in this thread. Bottom line is your are subject to the interpretation of the law enforcement officials if you retain it.

my buddies wife got her very first ever coho, on the fly even and I tailed it. We released it even though it was an obvious misclip but with 1/3 of the fin left I told her I have seen people ticketed for them before. So far she hasn't been able to land another one 

I myself would have also released it if I had caught it. If there is a definite portion of the actual fin left it goes back, misclip to me is where there is like a chunk left over kind of like a bump of flesh near the front of the fin

Anything less then half a clip ill keep, anymore then that and you have to wounder maybe this fish had bad genes in the adipose department.

What Id like to know is, whats the deal with the gill plate and adipose clipped coho I got this year? never had one like that before.

Gill plate is probably due to the fish rolling up in your line then thrashing about. I've had it happen many times with steelhead and coho where the line is still stuck in the gill plate.

No, the fin clipped coho had two V's cut out either side of the gill plate.
Ive had many many coho death rolls lol and not seen any cuts from it just wrapped line.

Looks like a line cut to me. I have heard of hatcheries hole punching gill plates, but not of any cutting the gill plate like that.
