Norrish Creek, November 21st 2013: Now I've seen it all
« on: November 21, 2013, 12:36:52 PM »

I spent an awesome but very cold morning today at the Norrish. Had a late start but when I got there after a short walk I had a nice run all to myself. For about 2 hours. Nothin caught worth keeping for myself but it was a beautiful morning ad I really enjoyed just being out there until....
A group of 3 guys showed up and started fishing the run about 30 feet downstream of me. I usually wouldn't care but when I saw how they were finin I just shook my head and left. They were bottom bouncing with Bettie's and large hook, no wool, no float, on 4 foot spinning rods?! They actually looked like ice fishing rods. I was like wtf?! That's a first for me to see. Ad of course they started snagging and keeping tomotoe red cohos. I laughed at them and went for lunch. Moving onto my next river after lunch.

Wow pretty sad... I thought those "fair weather" fisherman would be done for the season as it's very chilly. But apparently if the sun is shining, you unfortunately will still see that stuff..

As long as there are salmon in the river, there will be snaggers on the banks...

I hope you reported this activity. We have to do more than just walk away when we see this sort of behavior or it'll only get worse.

I experienced a similar thing about 25 years ago there and haven't been back since.
