Fraser North Arm
« on: November 24, 2013, 02:07:31 AM »

Hi Everyone,

For medical reasons, it is different for my kid to travel far away from home for fishing.  Can anyone recommend some locations along the north bank of the Fraser north arm, preferably in Vancouver?  I can go to Burnaby too if necessary.

If not, are there good spots along the south bank of the north arm?

Thank you!

There are 3 docks alomg north side, one at gladstone park and at the end of kerr st and one in between those,  otherwise try foreshore park.

If you live near these places contact me and I can meet up and help if needed. Shawn.sepia@gmail.com.

I fish north arm in vancouver every morning after work and there are good spots despite what some people think of the north arm.

Hi Shawn, thank you so much!

Does it help to be in a lower spot, close to water level?  I vaguely recall someone writing about keeping their rod low while using a spoon.

Yes if you are spoon fishing I would recomend being closer to the water, at these locations there are spots to fish at water level but would require standing on rocks and could be dangerous for your son, in that casebi would leabln more towards fraser foreshore park in burnaby at the end of byrne road is a parking lot I usualy walk to the right of the parking lot and there is grassy shore that is level with the water. I fished there on friday 4 bull trout and a wild rainbow all on spoons ( orange or chartruse )

There are lots of snaggy areas at Frasershore Park so it's a good idea to map out the bad areas during low tide.

If you go down Victoria drive and then drive down a block or two there are a few access points to the walkway along the river to spots with benches close to the water that are quite pleasant, with very few snags and no log booms.

I like foreshore but yes the snags are a pain.

I think the snags was more in reference to using spinners or spoons, but bait under a float is always an option too.

See Rods video on bar fishing the lower Fraser.  That setup is the best if you are fishing bait down there.

Curious what kind of gear do you use there?

Specifically, size of rod and reel and what weight spoons?

Thx!
