Anyone had fished there before? Are we allow to fish there? since the fraser river doesnt have much action, thinking of going there giving a try.

I haven't fished there myself but I did see some people fishing there this summer, they were catching some too.

Yes, you can fish off the seawall. I often see people catching flounders and perch. I've caught ling cod and rock cods off the kelp beds.

Nice big juicy carp in the Lost Lagoon, too.

I remember a very old Russian gentleman getting them there in the late evenings years ago, when I was a newcomer to Canada and renting a little place in the West End.
This guy would arrive on his bike with the last light of the day, get into some bushes and toss a home-made boilie out there with a hand line. It usually took him under 5 minutes to get a fish. He'd land a fish, dispatch it discretely, put it in a bag and off on his bike he went. Curious folk.

Don't get any silly ideas, though. It's strictly forbidden to fish the Lost Lagoon.

I bet the lack of carp in lost lagoon is part of the reason it has slowly been grown in by grasses.  we see the same issues in many places in the lower mainland where there were once carp the ditches stayed relatively open.  Now that they have been fished out the ditches clog up with grass.

I live downtown in Vancouver in a youth community living environment and should probably start trying places like Stanley park and Ambleside, since they are so close to me, and accessible via transit. I have no vehicle so. There has to be some decent fishing at these places. I bet its freezing out there on the west side of Stanley park though. I wonder if dew worms would work, I have a bunch of them lol

i think dew worm and live ghost shrimp will be a good bait, since i was in asia, we do a lot of fishing, and worms and shrimp are like the most productive bait.

Im thinking is there any locol stream/ creek that is in vancouver bc, went to the new westminster creek, but nothing much happen there. Thinking of spanish bank creek, which is near UBC.

According to the online regs you can fish there but I would first check with http://www.env.gov.bc.ca/fw/contact/ by phone to make sure then check http://www.pac.dfo-mpo.gc.ca/fm-gp/rec/fresh-douce/region2-eng.html tom see if there is any info here and by phone - Fisheries and Oceans Canada, Suite 200 - 401 Burrard Street, Vancouver, British Columbia V6C 3S4, Telephone: 604-666-0384, Fax: 604-666-1847, also check with the city of Vancouver to see if they have any restrictions.

The Sea wall isn't fresh water. Its even got SEA in the name.

Fishing off the sea wall would require looking at the SALT water regs.

Suther, maybe you should read all the posts before you open your yap. The OP also asked about fishing in other areas ie "Im thinking is there any locol stream/ creek that is in vancouver bc", this would be covered by the Freshwater regs, hence the link. OP originally asked about Stanley Park so I also included the DFO link, that's for saltwater okay.   I also recommended phoning both to make sure as well as the city to see if there were any special restrictions.
