Tri-City News reports the city of Port Moody has "donated" a trailer to the hatchery until they can get something rebuilt.

This is in addition to the $10 000 the city has donated for the rebuilding processes.

Other major donations include $5000 from the Ioco Boat Club, $1500 from the PoMo Firefighters union, and $4000 from Pacific Coast terminals, to name a few.

Ruth Foster, one of the founders of the hatchery, hopes to have the fish-rearing portion of the hatchery up and running by fall next year. Hopefully that goal can be reached!

The Burrard Inlet Marine Enhancement Society runs Mossom Creek Hatchery with Centenial Highschool in Coquitlam.

Along with Hyde creek, which is an even smaller hatchery run by the Hyde Creek Watershed Society, they are trying to replenish salmon stocks in streams that feed the Port Moody arm of Burrard Inlet. Without these two little programs, there would likely be no fish in Hyde Creek, Mossom Creek, or many of the other small streams that have had salmon re-introduced since the 70s when they started.
