Chilliwack River, January 16th 2014
« on: January 16, 2014, 07:28:37 PM »

Fished mid river at first light. Water high with nice color to it.  Worked my way up river and fished several runs with no success. Made my way back about noon. Pounded the first run i hit. Just before leaving i decided to fish some slow skinny water at head of run.  Third drift float buried and fish on. After an excellent fight with many acrobatics, landed a beauty chrome wild doe around 15lbs. Had a real difficult time tailing her, as her tail was so thick, even with my big hands.  Was lucky enough to have someone walking by to take a quick photo and she was on her way. Half an hour later a couple guys came down looking for broodstock.  Too bad.  She was a beauty.

Water still has a bit of colour, but I managed to land 1 wild. A friend of mine caught a nice little cuttie too.

The pelvic fins make me suspect she is a repeat spawner... But the pectoral and ventral fins don't tell the same story...

Well i guess that spot only produces twice haha nothing but rods on both sides today, managed to get in there later in the afternoon and not a sniff. Water is still surprisingly on the high side with the colder weather in the upper i would of expected a change. Eighth trip in the bag with nothing in the bag or hands to show for  :'( Also didnt see or hear of anything from sleese to lower river. I guess they got them all couple days ago. . . LOL!
