Sooke Basin, March 14th 2014: Cutties
« on: March 15, 2014, 03:09:58 PM »

Tried the Sooke Basin, home of legendary giant sea run cutthroat.

Zero, nada, zilch.  Saw one fish bulge the water and small one flipped the surface a couple of times.  I think we missed the chum fry emergence as none evident anywhere.  Next week?

I would sure love to fish the Sooke Basin more for cutthroat. During summer vacation in August 2 years ago, I fished Billings Spit on the evening flood tide. An eddy had formed in the lee of the spit and I had a couple fish on, but none to hand.  Would love to get back...
