just wondering if its legal to buy sockeye  these days from local sellers. i never had a problem in 2010 when they were selling them left right and center. havent bought any since though. Havent bought any from natives either so just dont want any issues with conservation officers. Are there any issues...........thanks guys.

 Agree, last year there was a ad on CL advertising Springs for sale, the person and ad sounded legit and the guy was dock at over at one of the secured docks in Richmond.
When I got there, the guy was actually trying to pawn off sliver Chum as springs.

So once the commercial fishery is in full swing with lots of fish to be had, what would be considered a good price from a legit source?

In 2010 during the last big sockeye year I was paying 10 bucks a fish at the steveston docks.

I work in Steveston, it was absolutely mental in 2010. The government wharf almost sunk under the weight of all the potential buyers. $10 was the lowest I saw as well.

Wow that's much cheaper than I expected.

Whats the average sockeye weight? maybe 6-8 lbs? Even at $15-$20 a fish ($2.50-$3.00/lb) would be well worth loading up.

Ya, I live in steveston, and I remember buying a few coolers worth of fish for $7 a fish of the local guys delivered!

This was the scene on the docks on the first big sunday of 2010. People would just wait on bay view, with cash in hand swarming the guys parking their trucks who were trying to deliver. It was nutty.

Was at Super Store on lunch. They had two crates, average cost was $11.xx per fish, fresh, whole & gutted.

Buy it at the wharf from the fishermen who worked hard to catch them and are licenced to do so.
