Setup for bar fishing
« on: August 01, 2014, 04:12:04 PM »

OK, I've never caught a chinook and am really itchy to try bar fishing this year. Looking at setups I just can't afford to shed money on a proper bar rig right now but still want to get a piece of the season. From researching around I figure most people recommend 11-12' stiff shimanos, trophy xl,etc, and Penn 320 or Abu 7000 as far as reels. My heaviest gear at hand is an 10.6 HMX Eagle baitcasting rod rated 15-30lb, 1-6oz lures paired with Abu Garcia 6500 that I'd used for fighting stave chum. My question is do you guys in your experience think thats an adequate setup or I'd be way undergunned and should stay low saving for the next year?  Thank you
