i was heading home from alberta and drove by laidlaw seen it from the highway lots of cars there atleast 20

i didnt get time to stop

anybody know if the fishing is ok or good there? much ppl catching? thanks

People here like to keep sockeye bars secret. 

Seriously, Laidlaw is one of the major sockeye bars. It is more snaggy than Scale Bar and perhaps Peg Leg & Seabird. At earlier season you can catch spring there. But it usually only produce sockeye when the water is lower because the bigger spring will go through the deeper north channel. I think this is the bar which deflects most springs to the north shore which makes Snaggy & Scale on the north side pretty good for spring. There is an inside channel which at this level is safe to cross even without waders. But you may need to wade out when bouncing as most guys will be doing it. That is why I don't like this bar much in the past - not fishing dry and the lack of spring when the water is lower. But with Seabird & Snaggy having access problem, Laidlaw will be very, very crowded.

Fishing is probably good because if it wasn't there wouldn't be as many people.

Not really. There is either no or limited access to 2 of the 5 major sockeye bars this year. That is probably why Laidlaw, my least choice, is such a crowded place this year and probably for the future. Too bad.

Check out Google Earth and explore, you can find a less crowded fishing spot.

The amount of fishing space there now is tiny - maybe 1/3 of what is normal.

You cannot drive across yet and there is another deep channel of water about 60 feet beyond that.

The normal fishing area is broken into 3 parts - 2 of which are inaccessible.
