Stamp River, September 28th - 30th 2014
« on: October 05, 2014, 09:22:53 AM »

Three guided days on the Stamp and Somass started with chucking flies in early AM.   Three  coho hooked, two landed.

The majority of time was spent chucking spinners, #5 blue fox, silver blade with orange or pink body.  21 coho hooked, 7 landed plus one spring lost and one jack spring landed.

The largest coho weighed was 12 pounds.   Several lost were about the same size and one perhaps a bit larger.   Most were in 7 to 9 lb. range.  A good trip.

Do you have a hoochie body/trailer on your blue fox there?

Was you with Murphy's?

Always wanted to go over and fish with them during mid-late September but September seems to always be a bust between work and daughter going back to school.

Looks like you had a great trip..congrats

Nice Pics!  Thanks for the report.  The hoochies on spinners really intrigue me.  Did you find that they work better than spinners without hoochies?  It also seems to work on rivers down south:

I'll be sure to add a few to my hardware box the next time I go.  We may have high water conditions after this weekend so a good time to try it out.

 :DsYes I was with Murphy's.

My guide insisted on spinners with hoochies.  Never tried them without but others on the river did with less success.  I have previously had success on the Stamp without hoochies but with a #6 Blue Fox in yellow.

Fishing was exclusively in frog water about 6-8 feet deep.  The Stamp water is very clear.
