Chehalis River, November 19th 2014
« on: November 20, 2014, 07:44:02 PM »

To cap off what has been an extremely successful Coho season I decided to head to the Chehalis canyon with a buddy.  Upon heading down to the run we could see coho in impressive numbers all over the pool, with many clean brutes spotted.  We arrived shortly after first light and fished until around 1:00pm.  Using roe we were quickly into several fish only to see the bite stop.  As we had the run all to ourselves we decided to start a fire, warm the fingers and have a chat, allowing the fish to calm down.  After about 20minutes we started to fish again and immediately hooked up again. We had a double header at one point which had us laughing at how good the fishing was.  After catching and releasing several....no more touches so we let the pool settle down again.  Just like before when we started fishing again we had multiple hook-ups.  This scenario was played over and over all day.  Neither of us needed anymore fish in the freezer so many fish were released.  A couple dime bright does were retained.  All in all a very successful day.  I think I will pack it in until Steelhead season.  This was definitely a Coho year to remember.

Well makes sense, chum don't usually hang around in the same area. Planning on heading out this weekend but with heavy rain forecasted tomorrow, plans may change.

Nice sized fish. Saw a couple brutes, lost one at least ten pounds.
