Did Pacific Net and Twine take over Nikka?
« on: December 16, 2014, 06:12:45 PM »

Was in Steveston a few days ago and went into Pacific Net and Twine seeing how Nikka is gone. They used to be almost all commercial but looks like they expanded their fresh and salt water tackle and I think the guys working there used to be at Nikka so anyone know if they took over?

No, the owners decided to close the store and retire.

PNT has always had a small assortment of saltwater fishing gear for the recreational guy but they cater to the commercial guys.  I was just in there and some of the Nikka staff has moved over which is really awesome. Not a huge selection of freshwater gear at PNT right now, but I hear that there are expansion plans in the works.  I also saw a bundle to Titan trigger rods and a couple of Calcutta's in the display case, so maybe its already begun.

PN&T has been into sportfishing in a big way for some years now but the Steveston store doesn't have the floor space like the Vancouver Island operation-a sportie's paradise.

Word is that the Steveston store is looking @ a facelift but that means reconfiguring the interior of the building-which is also thriving wholesale business-so it'll take some juggling.

Also PN&T has picked up some product lines (like Kone Zone) which were big sellers for Nikka.

EDIT-like Nikka don't look for a lot of river fishing gear in PN&tT.

I have heard they'll be getting some more freshwater gear/tackle in as well.
