I wade out to my nipples then cast to shore behind me, best way to fish the skinny water.

I dont gear fish any more and believe me when I did I seen spey fishermen wading waist deep and was like WTF  but now I get it now seeing as I only spey fish. Truth be told some dont know any better but the further you stand out the more you can slow your fly speed down. I like my fly moving most of the time so ankle to knee deep but the odd time you just have to get out there to your nipples  :o :o

FWIW.......Zap has merit to his post about wading up to his nipples and casting back and fishing the skinny water.I watched a video with Dec Hogan doing the same thing. He was wading the middle of a river and casting to both sides of the skinny water,Hmmmmm, new strategy noted ;D ;D

It does work.  I was streamer fishing an interesting set of water on the stave, were I was able to cast out to the current seam and have my fly swing into a "rip".  I had several hits, but they eventually stopped.  I then casted towards shore, swinging in the opposite direction and was into fish again.  Just changing the fly orientation made a big difference.
