Hell of an expensive loss.
Glad you are trying to find the owner.

Check what's on the camera. Might find the lost Tamahi gold mine or sasquatch surveillance or some peeping through windows. Maybe some poacher action or maybe some lost footage of April Volkey spey fishing on a sunny warm day. ::)

Probably find evidence of the person who lost it.

There are some cables needed to plug into camera that I do not possess. The blue and red lights keep coming on as it drys out

Its taking pictures of you. Hopefully you weren't doing anything tough to explain in front of the camera. This may be part of some university kid's thesis. The owner may have planted the drone with the expectation that someone would take it home with them. The drone may be broadcasting times images of its surroundings.

What kind of camera is it?

The other thing is it might be trying to take off. What are you going to do if the drone tries to take flight inside your home?

is the camera battery dead or can you turn it on and look through the footage?

you just need the cables to connect it to the TV or computer. The same cable will probably charge the battery. What make is the camera.?

Post some pictures of the drone and the camera. Maybe someone here has the cables for that camera.

There could be some scientific discovery on the footage. There may be evidence of a previously thought to extinct fisherman with morals and ethics. You might have discovered the missing link between good and evil or you may have found a beautiful perspective of the river that we never get to see or appreciate.

Show some pictures of the camera. It will be a modern camera which is readily available so lots of people will already have the cables you need.

Often the owner looks directly into the camera to see if its working before letting it loose. It's an exciting discovery and viewing the pictures or video may reveal the owner.
