Doubt you can find sockeye selling for $15-20 a fish this time of year.

I was at PriceSmart (Kingsway & Knight location) 2 days ago and they had some good looking frozen sockeye salmon fillets. The shrink wrapped fillets were priced at $10 each (aka $20 / fish).

 Really?
Sockeye or LABELED Sockeye?
How big? (Approx)

I've seen Pinks mislabeled :o as sockeye.
Not saying it ain't true but that sounds like a clearance of fish frozen prior to 2014.
Just sayin ;)
And of frozen properly most won't know the difference 8)

Superstore has a decent deal on Sockeye usually.
Your not going to find it for $10 a fish but is still a pretty good deal for a good quality Alaskan Sockeye.

I just perused the frozen seafood section of our local Save On and they had whole, head-off frozen pinks (priced as pinks) and the same frozen fish also miss-labelled and priced as sockeye. They were mixed in the same bin so it was very obvious.

F.I.S.H at Market Square on Marine Way and Byrne Road Burnaby has frozen filets in that range as do the fish mongers at Granville Island. If it's frozen & packaged check for date packed stamp. Bruce's Market at Lougheed and 240th Maple Ridge has long had a superb reputation for quality fish and is another place to check. You won't get mis-marked fish at these places (in fact if this true why not point it out to a manager while you are there) and they are likely looking to see this stuff before fresh stock starts to arrive in June. Properly wrapped and frozen it's still a very good product.
