What's the difference if the numbers are the same?

Some say they're made with better materials, but there's people in the industry that swear they're made the same way.
There's more blankoptions available with the Browns.
I think it's really a nostalgia thing for most. I love my brown 3113lb. You can't get that rod in a green blank. My green 3113ct I never use feels exactly the same as my fathers old brown 3113mb that has been fished and fished and fished.
Be happy with either color they are both some of the nicest rods you'll ever fish if built properly by a good builder.

From Brian Babcock
"For the record, the new green blanks are exactly the same as the old brown blanks. Colour change only. Now before everyone starts giving me anecdotal stories about differences in action, let me explain a few things. Some of those blanks have been around for almost 20 years. In that time, there has been changes in basic raw materials - graphite, resin, etc. Sage has always attempted to maintain the exact actions as the originals, but I'm not going to say that it's impossible, over the span of 20 years, to not find some subtle differences within specific models. I will tell you, however, that the new green blanks are manufactured exactly the same as any brown blanks manufactured in the 3 or 4 years prior to my involvement."

Thanks, I just wanted to hear it from the pros before I call Flyrod. I want to build my own rods down the road, but, I want something quality for the spring. I had Walter at Sea Run last spring build me the most beautiful bait cast rod I've ever had in my hands and it was a brown blank.
I want a new center pin rod a bit lighter then the Sage I have now. The balance isn't right and the arm is finished after 40 minutes.
The price on the green rods are about half of what a custom brown blank runs. I'd like to use one, then down the road call Walter again after I figure out a counter weight on the but or reel location. You probably don't remember last year I asked lots of questions and I'm starting to figure this out. Lol. THANKS!

The brown Sage bait cast is awesome, I've got a Abu on it and the arm is great, it's the centre pin that I can't handle. It's a 3113m, just feels like a telephone pole. Balance is aweful, I figured this is why you get them made. Rod is very front heavy.

Personally I like using the light ( L ) blanks for CP rods but I dont use them to fish springs on big flows.
How long is the rear grip on this rod?

Maybe you should look into Sage 3106 lb to balance your kingfisher.  ;)

I believe your right on the 3106, just this stupid arthritis. Anyone else found this as a problem?
Im using an 11 ft GLommis now, but, it's way under gunned for springs. Beautiful rod thou. For Coho and Stealies it's great.

Honestly, I've never touched an Islander. I've done a lot of business with John and I'd feel kind of shitty if he knew. Lol. I just ordered a Talisman.

Talisman should be a good match for 3113lb or mb.
