Just copying this from another's post, seems like not a bad way to spend a morning...wonder if there are other innitiatives like this on other rivers in South Coast area (ie. Vedder, Chehalis etc...) I'm sure they are needed.
Squamites! With this dry weather, the salmon spawning channels along the Mamquam river (golf course area) are drying up. Salmon Fry are trapped and dying due to lack of oxygen due to the water flow being cut off. If you are available this Saturday at 9:30am, the Squamish Streamkeepers could use your help in saving thousands of fry and releasing them back into the Mamquam. Meet at the gate on the gravel road just north of the Mamquam bridge on the east side at 9:30am. Wear rubber boots or sandals/shoes you don't mind getting wet.
