That's ok it's clearly needed to help the fish make it to their spawning grounds. They will open up pinks soon I'm sure will try then .

Wow!  I didn't think they were really going to do it but definitely for the best.  If the Sockeye are as fragile as they're making them out to be then a full closure is the right way to go.

Ok so that's what I was thinking bur wasn't sure.   So we actually do want to get out on the mouth and catch the pinks because Me and my friends are new to salmon fishing in the chuck.  Can we just use pink jigs and jig for them because I don't have a downrigger.   I'm thinking 20-40ft down if u find a school


When it opens, if they're still there, then that method will work like a hot damn for pinks. ;)

ok I read it again  how can you catch a sockeye casting all we want is  pinks so why all the dfo fuss

totally sucks, wait for an opening,  glad I didn't  purchase my tidal  licence yet   then I will take my holidays earlier to go  lake fishing

oh well...I'll be sticking with the ocean for a bit longer..there's still some more beach and bottom fishing to be done  8)
Still waiting for that first pink though...my luck with salmon this season has been dismal so far...

hello all sorry for the late report on the 14 I hit saperton landing for an hour . while i was there saw some sockeye jumping far out. and saw one single pink rolling near by. hooked up with an pink and lost before i could bring it up on to the dock. the pinks came early this year  ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D

It closed at 1 hour after dark on the 14th. Anyone fishing during the day on the 14th was fishing legally.
