From my dozens of rods, yes plenty of 6'6 rods, most for the kids some for twitching jigs, my favourite set-up for casting to pinks (and coho) is a Medium fast 8'6" 4-10lb rod with a 2000 reel. The noodle tip on a fast action rod makes for a wild ride.
Same reason we like our fly rods, long, fast action.
Go to Berry's and buy one of there pink salmon fishing rods, they have been well thought out, by professionals.
they come in price ranges starting at $69. These rods were put together just for pink fishing.
I bought 2 more as spare coho rods in the boat, my buddies hate there "Canadian tire trout rods" after they use mine.
The 20lb braid just makes it multi purpose, like I said before, it's the same rod and reel I use for casting to coho in frog water.
