Vedder July 12th
« on: July 12, 2004, 09:54:42 PM »

My dad and his friends went to the Vedder today...my dad caught 1 spring along with 1 sockeye. The spring was about an 17 pounder, and was in very good condition.

The Lickman gong hole.  :( And just to think last week you told me it wasnt early and to go look for good fish water. What would I rather do, fish with the gongers and 6-12 foot leaders with a bouncing betty under a float or go fish water on my own and not be disugusted with the ripping of floats on the surface and snagging of sockeyes. Heard river is being shut down next week, Im sure happy and it look slike it may be true cuz DFO is out patrolling. :)

I like to the lower part of lickman. Because  It's easier to land fish there too, also you got a long rocky beach there.

Yes trout slayer, the gong hole :-\ , was there with carlo and aaron checking it out and very disgusted in the way the people where fishing , Targiting the sockeye with there 6-9ft leader and bouncing betty's and you not even alloued to target them, also happy that they are thinking of shutting it down, cause of the sockeye

Yeah, I hate that ripping sound.  Those guys set the hook after every drift.  That's not the right way to fish.  And fishing this way you hook more fish in the body than in the mouth.  Just let your float drift down and once it goes under set the hook.

Wool colour doesn't really matter.  I've seen guys catch springs on orange, pink, red, red and white, cotton candy colour, peach, and many more colours and combinations.  It's more personal preference.  If someone is confident in using a certain colour, they'll catch fish.  But if you're usure of yourself or your technique you'll get skunked.  The key is confidence.
