There's a hole in my bucket, Dear Liza.

So I learned most shockingly this AM. Must of torn during the Cap scrabble downslope.

Is one kit the same as the next,or should I look for something specific. Waders are Hodgman fwiw...

FYI, I wear track pants over my waders for protection....  Never had a hole and I've slid many times....  Cheap insurance and looks better too...

Aquaseal used to be the repair goop of choice in years past. Don't know if there was a better product.

I use packing tape (clear) to tape the rip on the outside, making sure the edges meet as close as possible.
Then on the inside: I smear some aquaseal.
After it dries (read instructions) If you don't like the edge after you peel off the tape put a smear on the outside.
Let it dry and you should be good to go.
If it's a really ragged rip/hole you'll need to put a patch on the inside when the aquaseal is put on and then after that'd dry put another layer of aquaseal over the patch and extend that layer about 1/2 an inch beyond the patch.

That's not a bad idea, maybe the fish will mistake you as a hiker or just some passer by and bring them out of hiding.

Maybe I'm the only one...

I pack my boots and waders into a large climbing gear bag before hiking to a river...this would be almost a necessity when venturing into the Cap.

1) expensive waders are never taxed from branches or awkward bending when climbing.
2) felt soles are miserable to wear on slippery mud.
3) it's much more comfortable to and fro...no sweating.

Haha,  I've debated taking a pair of shoes and socks to the river and leave them onshore...  Then give all the other guys a hard time for not being man enough to wade in bare...  In November, lol.  Then see the look when I walk out and throw them into a bag while leaving, lol. Hmm, maybe steel head season... Lol

I've packed stuff in before but if you are covering water it sucks to have a pack on the whole time... For the cap it's a fairly decent idea...

Funny you say that! Last year on Grey Cup weekend ( end of November ) my buddy and I witnessed a guy wade into the water in shorts.....blew our frickin mind. At first my buddy said "man he must have big kahunas"....and my response was "yeah until that water kicks in"... Crazy!

A guy once told me that if your trying to find small leaks turn the waders inside out and use a small amount of rubbing alcohol on a cloth, rub it on the inside of the waders and any hole will turn a small blue dot. Let the alcohol evaporate and then apply aqua seal or silicone.

anyone tried the rubbing alcohol method? Curious if this guy was just pulling me leg or telling the truth.

Yes.
Rubbing alcohol on the inside will show up darker on the outside and make those pin holes and creases where water gets in visible.
It evaporates quickly so don't rub down the whole inside.
Just do sections.

I've used this when I discovered a pin hole in the seat of my g3 waders.

A small dab of aqua seal worked perfectly

Nice. I ended up buying a Hodgman repair kit on Amazon. Won't be here til next week, so hopefully packing tape will hold til then...
