Sea-Run’s Fishing Report & Courses Update - December 17th, 2015

Here at Sea-Run, we sure get anxious this time of the year about the fish that are beginning to swim into our local rivers. If you are thinking Winter Steelhead, that is what we are all thinking here as well! This time of the year, the legends and greats of the sport cannot even sleep at night. By far one of our favourite times of the year to fish, this particular species is one of B.C.’s most prized gamefish. This is a fishery that can test your mental capacity and can wear you out at times. The fish that are known to be incredibly aggressive at times may all of a sudden take the fourth or fifth presentation through the run. You just never know with those things!
The Winter Trout & Char fisheries are most certainly underway, and one of your best methods is to fish egg imitations suspended under a float or indicator. Fly anglers or conventional anglers can effectively fish egg imitations in this fishery. One of your best imitations hands down is a plastic bead. There are many different bead imitations on the market such as Troutbeads, Mottlebeads, and Spirit River UV2 beads. These beads will often fish better than heavier beads or glass beads as they have a very neutral and natural buoyancy. All sizes between 6mm, 8mm, and 10mm are very good choices in a variety of colours.

Our current selection of beads!

If this is the year you want to learn how to catch Steelhead, this is your opportunity to learn from some of the best. In this fishery, 10% of anglers catch 90% of the fish, and this is your chance to learn from that 10%. We will cover water types, gear setups, artificial and natural baits, steelhead habits, and much more.

Available on the side of our "In-Store" Steelhead Float Fishing Course, we also offer "On the water" guided trips for Winter Steelhead, which will begin in January. Click the following link to view our Guided Steelhead Trips: ~ http://www.sea-run.com/guided-trips/ ~
