Gave it a go down in Steveston at that new pier they built. About fifteen anglers in total. Saw one or two fish caught in the 45 mins I braved the cold. Some older gentleman had about ten fish in their buckets. Due to long line up, I was not able to purchase any Herring at the Richmond Charity Herring sale down in Trites. Gave up after an hour in line. The herring seemed pretty tight lipped. Method of fishing is cutting down a Sabiki rig to two hooks then a one ounce sinker at the bottom. Flasher is optional. Cast and retrieve slowly along the bottom. I heard in a youtube video that the green attractant on the hooks is meant to mimic copepods that the herring feed on. Knowing this, I really slowed my retrive, still to no avail. I hope more fish show up next week!

Good luck fishing everyone and Merry Christmas.

I was there earlier this morning. It was super busy- the entire dock was lined with anglers. I was originally going after flounder but then decided to join the party after an hour or so without any bite (other than 1 bullhead). Caught 5 total for morning before losing part of my Sabiki jig when the bottom half with the sinker snapped off after a cast  ::), not a great catch, but enough for dinner ;D Most people were getting 10 or less, a few more than that. It's been quite a while since I last targeted herring so the experience was definitely nostalgic.
