Interesting fish! It appears to be adipose clipped, making it perfectly legal to keep. Was it? Assuming that’s the Vedder (and it looks like the Peach Road area), imo that’s either a very early returning hatchery fish from winter run progeny, or a stray from a system that clips it’s hatchery steelhead.

The only thing known for sure is the missing adipose fin rules out a true summer run Vedder steelhead.

Yes, TLS did retain it! Was a fun day.

TLS you are obviously a very good angler (and a young one at that!), but IMHO it would be worth your while to reel in the over-confidence a bit. People here are willing to help you but only if you let them. Fish ID-ing can be difficult at times but with experience you will figure out that that fish and other fish like that are definitely NOT a Steelhead.  ;) Either way, at least you had something on the end of your line, so good on ya.

I know what i caught.

Apparently you're confused. You don't know what you've caught, because you're on a forum asking what it is...

Over-confidence? More like arrogance...

Arrogance is actually found in many successful people. I agree with your statement, and age eats away at that youthful arrogance.

I can't believe there is a debate about what that fish is. Very entertaining.

Combining this thread and his earlier lie, his credibility is shot. ::)

Fishing forums can be the down side of any angler young or old. Lets not forget we are here to share stories, techniques and the ODD cool picture and not to brag about every single slab we catch. I have been on this forum for almost 15 years i have been involved and seen some very silly posts. When i first joined i was much like the TLS but even younger eager to show off every catch i had and get the thumbs up from everyone on this forum. Now that im almost 30 my posts have reduced to a few fish porn pics, the odd question reply and yes still the odd cheeky remark to a foolish post( but im working on that)  :D

Good post Floater.  As an old timer in life and on this forum, my advice to TLS is to lay low for a while. The first time around you were pretty much forgiven, your age being the biggest reason. This time I think the healing will take a bit longer, as you have read.
