people to do it. I think you need a permit from the Province to hold the trout plus to transport them. To get the fish try some of the local trout farms. You also have to make sure your pond can support trout through the year - it has to be cool enough in summer with sufficient oxygen for them to survive plus they have to make it through the winter if the pond freezes.

They sell live trout in lots of seafood markets like, T and T, Superstore, Chinatown, Independent Mom/Pop markets..etc.  If you don't care about rules/permits, I'm sure you can find a vendor that will sell you one that is live and you can take it off their hands anyway you wish.

Also of note:
In an aquarium or pond 1 gallon of water is recommended for every 1 inch of fish due to disease and stress issues.
Of course you could over stock but then you'd have to pay extra due diligence to the fish and water quality.
Best to start out with guppies.

By law (if I'm not mistaken) they are not allowed.to give them to you alive!
That's how some snakeheads got into public waterways.

There is a reason for this:  they don't want a.bucket brigade stocking fish which could endanger an entire ecosystem.

Throw about 30 Danios (they look like trout) in a 30 gallon aquarium tank.
They don't require too much care and you can decorate your tank to resemble the environment of your choice.

Watch, and dream as you tie flies for your next outing.

whatever you put in the pond you may have to deal other fishers such as raccoons and blue herons. A neighbor here lost quite a number of koi to a blue heron - and I live in the city! Most people with fish ponds put nets over them to keep critters out.

The legalities should be easy depending on the species but if Chinese restaurants can have live fish so can you. I would go to a trout farm and offer to help them raise some fry, for a small fee.
