Realistic place to maybe get one on the fly?

Going for a walk tomorrow somewhere. Wouldn't mind taking the flyrod just for kicks.

I'm wondering if there's a place with a greater possibility of actually catching something than trying to do a big steelhead trip to vedder. Something more casual as the gal will be along. Don't really care what kind of fish, it'll go back anyway, hopefully no need for waders. I was thinking of Seymour but it's closed to fishing, but something like that...

Any suggestions?

rice lake is close by seymour river.lake is just been stocked.nice trail and scenery also.

x2 - fly casting room on the dock as well, it will be busy though.

Tons of memories fishing there as a kid.  Pack a snack, walk the path around the lake, your lady will love it.

If it is nice and dry, you could venture off the path a little... ;)

This time of year the cutthroat are on the hunt and there are many place to combine a walk, while carrying a rod, and scanning the water for activity. While exploring many of these systems involves more bushwacking than walking, there are a few with walking paths along dykes that afford the opportunity to walk and hunt.

Unless in a tube there is no back-casting space at all, not a good place to fly fish.

True. Not much backcasting space. Good for roll-cast practice. Then there's also Alice Lake near Squamish. More backspace on the beach there. Until it gets busy later in the season with other users.

Thanks for the suggestion.

Did a bit of both, walked the Fishermans path on Seymour until we hit the blockade, then drove up to rice lake. Hooked into 3 trout. Was fishing a wet fly with no luck for about 30 minutes, but kept seeing fish coming to the top. So I put on a dry fly and caught one on the first cast and two more shortly after. One was really small so it went back to go eat some more. First ones on the fly rod!
