Halibut, Pedder Bay, April 3
« on: April 05, 2016, 12:37:03 PM »

My buddies and I are long time salmon and trout fisherman, and we have never caught a halibut, so it didn’t take much convincing when one of our group proposed doing a halibut charter out of Pedder Bay on the south Island.

We had booked a two day charter this past weekend, but were blown off the water on Saturday so we only had Sunday on the water.   We boated and retained two halis: a 25 and 33 and had to release this monster, estimated at approx. 100 lbs. Maybe we'll come back in a few years and kill her children!  ;D

Fun trip with the ladz and one that I think we will do again

Nice one, I see you were out with Sea Ghost. ;) Gord is a great host and guide.

Yes, we were out with Sea Ghost. Gord is a good host and a very knowledgable old salt. He knows his stuff and sure knew how to put us on top of the fish.

He speaks well of you too!

People really should stop talking about me when they're out fishing, it's bad luck.... ;D well, sometimes. ;)

Thanks!

I never ever talk about Rodney when I'm fishing. Bad karma :)

That's my rule too. It was my buddy that brought it up.

I made him wash his hands in salt water and kiss a salmon belly to restore the karma to the boat.

Actually he reeled in the smallest fish, and did so with wet hands and smelly lips.

Karma was not restored until the next fish.

So, pfft.  :)
