I gather the above quote was from this page: http://www.pac.dfo-mpo.gc.ca/fm-gp/rec/points/packaging-emballage-eng.html
Which also says:
If the daily limit is 4, then the possession limit is 8 and nowhere does it state that what you possess must have been caught by you. The way its worded it seems that the original poster should be allowed to transport his friend's limit of crabs in addition to his own for a total of 8.
If so, the loophole seems to still somewhat exist, but what you cannot do anymore is drive home with 50 crabs along with a dozen 'notes' from 'friends' who supposedly caught their own then gave them to you.
ty for explanations , I was really confused . and I will never do "the 50 crabs transport" . I asked exactly about 8 crabs , when technically we could keep 16
I do fish by the rules , but you know sometimes you give your catch away to bud of yours if he needs it more than you , or if you don't really want it , but he would gladly accept it . I don't see anything wrong with that , cuz both of us putting in time and fish by rules ...
anyways , to make long story short , we end up with 4 crabs keepers and those were donated to me , thanks to Tim
