saltspring island crab fishing dock
« on: April 29, 2016, 04:44:32 PM »

Hey guys... just booked the summer vacation on saltspring.  I will be staying at st Mary's and looking forward into getting some fish on the line.

wondering though... does anyone know of a dock in the salt water where I can toss out a crab trap... would love to crack some crab while I am watching the sunset on the lake...

Just north of St. Mary's, at the end of Fernwood?,Westwood? there's a public wharf. Used to have a good population of Red Rock crabs.
Remember it's a public wharf so keep an eye on your trap  :P. Used to be a few public wharves on the island, haven't been in awhile. Good luck!

The end of Fernwood. When we did it, most of them were redrock crab with some dungeness mixed in between. Good fishing for perch, greenling and dogfish while waiting for the traps to soak.
