Chehalis car window breaking
« on: June 17, 2016, 11:26:27 PM »

So fellow fishers,
I thought it only happened to other people but reality set it yesterday and it happened to me.
Screwdriver to pry and bust side window to steal a swack of change from counsel and window cleaner then worked their way to back trunk to take redington sonic pro jacket, salomon runners and to add insult to injury, my JEANS.
Other side of bridge in lot on the left.
My insurance company suggests there were 10 claims last year from there.
It was a smash and grab. I posted this only to let ppl know that it doesn't matter if your car is clear of belongings, it is still subject to vandalism. In the long run they did shy of $1600 damage.
P.S. I saw a newer black Ford black pickup come and go all in 4 mins while fishing.

First world problems I must admit but none the less an downer after a wonderful day on the river.

Tight lines.

Dude that sucks! Sorry to hear about that. It is almost incomprehensible what lengths people will go to sometimes to what amounts to nothing more than spare change. I have to admit that I sometimes leave things in my vehicle while out fishing, that are valuable to me, and would rather not have stolen. I try to never leave anything in plain site, but sometimes half asleep on the rush to the fishing hole the inside of my truck can look like a fishing gear bomb went off. sucks they had to take your pants too, that's pretty low.

Only leave in your vehicle what you can afford to lose.

I no longer lock my vehile when fishing. Honest people will leave it alone and thieves will be thieves, would rather not have window broken

Same here. I try to leave nothing but my shoes in the fishing tote. I guess they can have the truck user manual and insurance papers too. Have been broken into twice within the last year - smashed window once, lock cylinder bashed in the next time.

Knock on wood I've been lucky.
Heard of thieves breaking in and taking insurance papers and garage door openers and robbing houses too.

That's quite common (garage door openers with address) I work in the security alarm industry and they are also breaking in just to push the built in garage door openers to read the RF signal with RFID readers getting address off of insurance and heading to the house. So if you get broken into and nothing seems to be missing, be concerned

ugh. Im sorry to hear that.

We had the group site booked over the weekend (17th- 20th) and I noticed all of the smashed glass in the day use parking lot  :-\

I've been camping and fishing in that location since I was just a little kid and it seems to be getting worse and worse every year.

That really sucks. I'm just waiting for my turn to get broken into out there. After reading this thread I realized that my glove box and truck overall was in need of a good purge - and is back to empty now. Ill leave the glove box and elbow storage areas open in hopes the f**kheads will find another window to shatter.

What are you guys targeting out there at the moment? I've only fished there in the winter - one of my favourite places.

Side note - PHOTOCOPY your insurance papers with the ADDRESS BLANKED OUT!!  Obviously, a garage door opener would be one of those 'leave at home when going fishing in a high break in area' type items, but none the less, no addresses in your glove box gives them no address to go to!

Same goes with receipts for car work, tires etc - leave them at home, they also have your address on them!

Is that sound advice?  How would the boys in blue view blanked out address on insurance papers?
