Is that sound advice?  How would the boys in blue view blanked out address on insurance papers?

What do they ask for?......

"License and registration please."

I don't know what they ask for. I've never been pulled over 😀

Which documents provide proof of registration?

I just asked a RCMP Sgt. and was advised that it was perfectly OK, it's proof of vehicle insurance, not proof of address.

My ICBC Insurance Agent actually does it for me when I renew.....

Sounds good.

I was curious and had a look in the BC Motor Vehicle Act. I did find mention of not altering a license, but no mention of not altering insurance papers...

Actually, the last couple times I have been stopped they didn't bother asking for registration. I also keep a photocopy with blacked out address.

Some good info on garage door openers I saw today too:

Police in Langley are very concerned after two recent residential break and enters occurred while the residents slept.

Both instances occurred in the Willoughby area and entry was gained by using the garage door opener.

Here are some additional ideas to consider for your garage door…
•Many garage door openers are equipped with a ‘lock’ function on the control panel. You may want to consider locking the overhead door as you head into your home at night.
•Key Fob Garage Door Opening Remote – This option is available for less than $20 and is an easy way to NEVER leave your door opener in the car.
•Some of the newer garage door openers have a WiFi function that allows you to control the door with your Smartphone (ensure your WiFi is password protected).
•There is a product available equipped with a ‘timer-to-close’ feature to automatically close the garage door should you happen to forget.

Lastly, make sure you lock your inner door at night so if burglars do happen to get access to your garage, they likely won’t get any further.

Protect the ‘KEYS TO YOUR CASTLE – and the garage door opener is one of those keys….

Lol, so a locked door inside a garage where they have all the time in the world to do as they please without fear of being seen by neighbours, passing cars etc, is gonna prevent them from getting any further? Also they aren't just stealing openers the new vehicle have it built in you pair you on board unit to your garage doors RF code (much like how your shaw or Telus remote can control your tv) and they are using RF ID readers (25 bucks online) to read the code emitted when it's transmits... A lot of them aren't even breaking into cars now they simply sit in a residential area in the morning waiting for people to leave and close the overhead door behind them at which point they read the code transmitted and have full access to it anytime they please. Nothing will stop them if they truly want in but detecting them when they do (alarm system) is key.

You know there are these inventions which make sure the thieves cannot enter your home through garages?

They are called detached garages

I had my trailer plate stolen at the Alouette trailer lot. Don't really know how to prevent that but you might take a glance back for yours before you leave there. Cops noticed mine was missing on my drive home.
