Nice video. I'm hoping to do a fair bit of kokanee fishing this summer.  Take me back to my childhood fishing with my grandfather on Nicola Lake.

I'm curious if you guys ended up fishing the top rod, and whether or not you had any success on it.  Also, were there significant differences in the number of bites you got between the different tackle setups you guys used?

It looks like the fish hooked at 12:30 is on the top rod, and again at 13:08.

Pretty much all of the fish we hooked before Noon were on the top rods, while the one rod on the downrigger had very little luck. After Noon, all of the bites came from the rods on the downriggers at 20ft deep.

Here's a second video, tutorial, which shows all the terminal tackle that we used.

A colleague of mine has always told me about how he used to slay kokanee on wood lake. He used a willow leaf gang troll and a double red wedding band with a six inch leader and tipped with a night crawler. To this day that's still his go-to trolling rig for any species. I've seen him haul up 18lb Char on that setup. Gotta love  that commitment.

Interesting.  I have never tried fishing for kokanee right at the surface. Something new to try!
