Worm Prices
« on: July 05, 2016, 05:44:32 PM »

Just wondering what the reasonable range of prices for live dew worms is? I stopped at a gas station last week and bought a container of 12 for $4.99. Is that typical? I'm not worried about paying the going price, I just want to make sure I'm not getting gouged :P

Seems about right. The gas stations are likely to be a touch higher than a proper tackle shop or Canadian tire or army and navy. Besides, a full meal for 4.99 is a pretty good price.

Between $4 and $5 is the going rate.

Last week, I purchased a container of 18 red wiggler worms at Sea-Run Tackle for $7.98. So this works out to about $5.30 per dozen. I prefer the red wiggler worms over dew worms as they seem more hardier overall.

Dew worms are the ticket, but you have to use a worm threader:

Just be mindful when you buy them, open the container and check them make sure they move I usually poke them with the lid.

80% of the time the ones at army and navy, are either dead or people pulled the worms out. (i used to work there)

We literally had times where they were there for 3+ months and we weren't allowed to dispose of them, or anything. They just sat there until it started to stink up the place ;(

The thought of people stealing worms and stuffing them into their pockets is funny. Don't doubt that it happens though!

Haha, yes that would be..... They usually dump it into the container of worms that they are purchasing, but leave with double the amount.
