Angler drowning today
« on: November 10, 2016, 09:34:57 PM »

Has anyone heard about this today? I read and heard about a drowning of a young angler at or around Peach Rd today. SAR was parked on the dyke at around 2:30pm 😔

I saw a posting on the local Chilliwack Facebook beware site (closed group).
The lady who posted was walking the rotary trail and snapped a pic of the SAR truck and asked questions to their team I believe.

I believe you may have read about Graeme Carswell, hopefully i that was spelled correctly. This happened in February last year, if it is what you read about. SAR didnt get him in time tragically. He is from the same small town as me, and although I did not personally know him, I have heard he was an amazing person, very very sad.

I have no idea how to post a pic but I have now read his name was Timothy Cross. His sister said he lived with nature so not sure what is meant by that and also implied he led a different type of life.

It always makes me sad to hear of an angler that has lost his life on the river. This is becoming far too frequent - it seems like there is at least one drowning per year now - maybe its always been that rate on a river which is used all year.

I would like to learn more about what happened and also curious as to why this isn't in the news.

My condolences go out to the family.

The post of this thread notwithstanding, Timothy Cross may not have been an angler, and it may not have been an accidental death. It also sounds like he may have been homeless.

There could be a number of reasons why the details haven't been made public.

My condolences to Timothy's family and friends.

You're correct Clarki, there could be a number of reasons why more details aren't made public.

I'm sad for his Sister, family and friends.
