the most frustrating part of the Fraser River Chum fishery is there is such little value there.
I guess the commercials just want the work so they can go on EI until next season and the FN's are harvesting the roe to be sold overseas.
But really what is the actual dollar value of this fishery?
Like others have said, the Chum Salmon is at the bottom of the salmon market as a fish!

The Fraser commercial chum fishery used to be one 24-hour opening around Oct 25th. DFO split in two (11 hours each this year) a few years ago so they can get an extra day for EI entitlement.

Big money in eggs.
