Help with info on this Milner Kingfisher
« on: April 12, 2017, 07:15:18 PM »

Recently picked up this Kingfisher and can't seem to find any info on it like age, I think its an early one, collectability or value. Any input on it would be awesome. I asked the fellow I purchased it from and got nothing, he only owned it for 4 days...was a quick flip for him I guess.

Yup it's a old kingfisher. I knew a guy that fished the hell out of one, made me love Milner's.

That Kingfisher is about 26 yrs old and they were arguably one of the least effective of all the Milner produced reels. Sorry but the market value has dropped to to about $175 CAD. I can step up and offer you $200 and can pick-up within 15 minutes if you agree to it.

Or you can tell me to get stuffed. The challenge with those old Milners is that they'll get rain and fish slime on them. Roe stains get on and then they start to look used. Oh and don't even get me started about the line getting wet - brutal. Look, that's a lot of hassle for you to deal with so, let me help you get that burden off your shoulders. Sell me the reel and we'll never speak of this again.

Don't get me wrong. There is some charming appeal to that reel  ::) but really it's not the first one I'm going to run out and find. Not everybody has one of those so clearly they aren't as popular as some may let you to believe.

This is one of John's first run of 20 in 1995. It is a rare beauty. It will be worth at least $700-$800 to a collector. In a few years $1,000
plus.

Master Milner sure made (makes) a heck of a fine reel and you can't find one in better condition that this one. Most excellent find.

Similar reel listed recently on CL, may help to determine value.

What is this - some sort of conspiracy to grossly inflate the value of this reel? That's the same reel. Pffft - rookies.
