Seemed to be fairly tough to remove that hook. Barbed? I would say Yes.

It's not necessarily a barbed hook.
When the hook enters the jawbone at a certain angle following a strong hookset, it can be tricky to remove the hook even if it is barbless, especially if only fingers are used and not a forceps or pliers.

Unless you were there and saw with your own eyes the barbed hook, all you say is pure speculation.

It sounds to me that you guys are jealous that a guy with no waders and boots landed a beauty of a hatchery coho.

100% barbed treble hook. I'm pretty sure I saw drugs in his pocket too.

To say his hook must be barbed because he's having trouble, well I would say you need to catch more fish.

There is currently no Pink retention...... not likely to change

It is most definitely either a jack Spring or a coho.... if it was a pink... everyone around him would be yelling at him!

Squamish is the only place for Pink retention this year. Although most of them are carcasses and zombies by now.  You could target coho there though.
