Fishing in or close to hope
« on: September 29, 2017, 10:05:47 PM »

Hi everyone, I am new to hope and never used to fish this area (Skagit a few times). Just wondering what rivers or lakes are close by and are not catch and release fisheries...preferably in hope. I have fished Chilliwack and agassiz and such but am looking for places close. Thanks

Kawkawa lake for kokanee would be your best bet that I know of. Pretty popular in the spring time, but I'm not sure how it fishes in the fall ( it closes to fishing in December until March).

Every year is different. Don't make plans to head up after mid Dec but it only takes one good snowfall to make things miserable.

Fishing from shore is okay but you still need to get across the lake to the good area.

Don't bother if you don't have a boat.

You're better off going to Lake in the Woods or whatever it's called just outside of Hope. Check the regs first - I seem to recall some change there since I've been there some 18 years ago.
