Flick to a stop. Or hard acceleration to a stop.
The flick, or acceleration, is done with the rod. Often I see inexperienced anglers using their arms far too much and sort of lobbing the whole rod out.
I mostly swing to the side but as your skill increases you will be able to launch from any position so whatever is easiest for you.
If I’m really trying to bomb it out there I will load the road with the backswing. My lure flying above the rod on the backswing and kind of to the side or slightly under the rod tip on the way out in one fluid motion. I wouldn’t spend time trying to mimic that technique that’s just the way I do it.
Trying to long bomb it might just cause more frustration then anything if you’re inexperienced or with someone who is. If the lure is going sky high you’re releasing too early. If it’s splashing down hard 10 feet out you’re holding on too long.
