Lamiglas Sale - Online
« on: October 22, 2018, 03:13:33 PM »

Lamiglas is having a sale on all of its rods from now until November 1st.

Use code FALLSALE2018 at the checkout for 25% off the entire store.  I've got nothing to do with Lamiglas whatsoever other than a few excellent rods and great experiences with their warranty and customer service guys.

various mail forwarding services in Pt. Roberts and Blaine.

A quick drive across the border, fill up your gas tank, a jug of milk and pick up your rod.

Won't have brokerage fees and a good chance that they just let you through without dinging you (depending on the cost of the rod)

I use Pulse Packges and Hagens of Blaine. Park at Peace Arch Provincial Park and walk across the border to avoid line waits just to pick up a package. No issues with border or using US parcel service companies. Have been using them since 2007.  Recent as last weekend when my seat covers from California arrived.

Way safer than having it delivered to your home.  They are always there to receive packages as it is their business.

Those parcel delivery places are very safe. They wouldn't have a business if they were stealing from people.

I also need to add that sending items for warranty or repairs back to the factory from the US is cheaper and way quicker than sending them from Canada.  After 6 years of hard use, my G3's finally sprung a small leak and I sent them back to Simms via my mail service in Blaine for 11 bucks.  It arrived to the factory in 2 days.  The mail service had all the packaging materials and the ability to generate mailing labels and organized the pickup from USPS, UPS or Fed EX, whichever is better for you.  I've also warrantied my Sage Rods and Reels this way.

If you are purchasing items in US, no duty if made in US i.e. sage rods, simms gortex waders etc..

I find they rarely ding you for duty.  If they do send you in, its mostly for GST and PST.

If its for Warranty replacement or repair, keep a copy of the work order or any info indicating that's what its for.  The most they would do is charge you taxes on the cost of the repairs.

I find their Centerpin Rods to be too Whippy.  They may be different than the ones we use up here.  I think they are more like the pin rods that are used back east.  i.e. long and noodlely.

All the ones I'm interested in are sold out.

PS - I have been using Hagen's of Blaine for over 10 years.  They are great.  Never had an issue, bought everything from fishing gear to tires shipped there.
