I thought the video was about west coast salmon....  I did not realize the video was really about the history of Chinese imperialism...

Did you guys play it backwards to see all the Chinese stuff..... Just wondering..

A question for those in the know, preferably with background in fish biology...
If hatcheries are harming wild salmon populations because hatchery fish breed with wild fish, shouldn't hatcheries focus instead on producing triploid salmon for harvest, and let wild fish restore themselves back to healthy numbers?

I think the question of triploid steelhead came up recently  .. if I recall there is ongoing research into this technology, for salmon, but if the fish don't produce sexual maturation hormones the fear is they will not migrate. Anyone have anything new on this?   Dnibbles??
