New Fisheries Minister
« on: November 20, 2019, 11:20:28 AM »

Wilkinson moved to Minister of Environment.

Bernadette Jordan, a "professional" fundraiser and community newspaper advocate originally from Quebec (now Nova Scotia), as the fisheries minister.  :o

Hold on out west, we're in for yet another tumultuous ride methinks...

No matter who they are they have been a disaster as is FOC. I thought Tom Siddon was a good one, was for the FVSS as he acknowledged we were at the bottom of the ladder. In the middle 80 's we had a meeting with him and got an allotment of fish too on the Fraser River. Saying that we are near where we started back then. It was a protest fishery by the FVSS that got us the meeting with him. For those that had not seen the video from back then here it is, from Global TV.  https://youtu.be/kHRREqs9prA

The Fraser Valley Salmon Society has been a leader for the rec angler since 1984 and will step up to the plate once again to try and get some openings for next year but we of course put conservation first. However we need to bring in selective fishing methods on the Fraser River that can protect stocks of concern..

We had a demo fishery 2 months ago ago and will be deciding our next steps soon, stay tuned. https://youtu.be/8cia9E1Dqwc
