A group of us missed our usual June trip to Moose Camp Fishing Lodge due to COVID-19, so when an opportunity to go last weekend came up, we jumped on it.
We fished Rioux lake on the Friday and Deube Lake on the Saturday.
Rioux fish were willing and eager, if not a bit thin. I think we brought about 50 to the boat on Friday. All flies used had a variation of success casting. When the wind settled, even surface dries were getting takes! The fish had bellies full of small green scuds. The most successful was the "Little Fort Leach" - available at the Little Fort Fly and tackle shop.
Deube fish were quite eager too, but fatter and overall larger. The fly of choice was a red Doc Spratley trolled while rowing up the lake, letting the wind blow you back down.
We took our limit home from Deube and even had some cooked up for breakfast.
There are many beautiful lakes up in the area. I imagine that fish in the region in general would have been quite willing that weekend.
