I'm reasonably intelligent but the salmons regs for the Alouette have me scratching my head.

Above 216 St. there is no retention of coho from Sept 1 to Nov 30.

Downstream of Allco Park you can retain one hatchery marked coho from Oct 1 to Dec 31.

Since "Above 216 St" and  "Downstream of Allco Park" describe the same stretch of water on the Alouette, what can you do with a hatchery coho caught on this stretch?

I could be totally off here but I would guess this means you can only retain coho below 216th street at this time. If you take both regs together this is the only conclusion I come to. It also says you can retain Chum downstream of the boundary in Allco park, but a separate regulation line states no fishing for chum (I would also go with the no retention reg). I think they messed up and need to get rid of that Allco park section entirely.

Downstream of alco park is good to go. It’s different than above 216. The reg does not say upstream of 216.

It’s pretty obvious where one can fish from all the cars parked at the Various holes/access along the river.

The hatchery volunteers run an active Facebook page and are always looking for volunteers,help and or donations.

Effective April 1 to August 31, 2020:
- All species: No fishing for salmon

Management measures - Chinook salmon:

Management measures - Coho salmon: 
Effective September 1 to November 30, 2020:
You may fish for but not retain any Coho salmon (catch and release only)

Kind of like a Venn diagram.... Yeah, so it’s safe to say to you can retain hy coho below 216 but the regs for the stretch between 216 and Allco is a little murky.

those tables have not been revised properly. They just add whatever Fisheries Notice has been issued. Good luck catching a coho on the Alouette (groan).
