Description: Horsefly strain rainbows exhibit a distinctive golden tone. Typically, they are densely spotted above the lateral line. Where the fishing pressure is low, mature specimens can attain relatively big sizes. In Quesnel Lake, they can attain weights of more than nine kilograms (20 pounds).
The Pennask strain usually has very little spoting spots above the lateral line.
Description: The Blackwater strain is often more densely spotted from head to tail than the Pennask strain. They typically have a high concentration of spots above the lateral line, a body-spotting pattern that’s common in coastal rainbow trout.
in both photos there is a goldish tinge above the lateral line. How colors look will depend on light conditions, water conditions (ie tannin vs clear vs algae stain, a deep lake vs shallow, the color of the bottom yada)
remember all these strains are rainbow trout. Trout appearance will also vary among individuals
