jigging for Kokanee on big lakes?
« on: August 16, 2024, 09:07:16 AM »

Reason for asking is I have a bunch of kids keen on going fishing and figure each watching a rod would be more satisfying than trolling a couple bigger rigs
Have seen vids on jigging for Koks on small waters hanging a lure close to bottom and watching for soft takes

Can it be productive to jig on bigger lakes when fish are showing @~50ft over 200 ft of water?

Spoons or jigs? w/ or w/o bait?

Can't answer your specific question but you should check for youtube videos as there is a considerable number available.

It's now mid-August and in my experience kokanee will be preparing for spawning soon and fishing gets very slow. It may be different for sterile triploid fish if the water you are targeting has been stocked with those.
