Tidal Fraser Coho
« on: October 24, 2024, 01:03:55 PM »

Here we go again.
What are the chances DFO puts out a fishery notice for Tidal Fraser Coho?
I see chum in the Fraser opens Oct 31.  Should the Coho fishery also be open the same day?
Also, I have never seen anyone really target Chum in the Tidal Fraser.
I know Rodney ususally put's out a reminder to his contacts at Fisheries about a notice regarding this fishery.
Would be nice, peaceful and quit fishery.

At this point of the game with all the BS politics going on....unless there is an DFO officer standing right beside me, I am bonking any chrome hatchery coho that hits the beach. If the regs say no fishing for salmon, then I would respect that, but if its open for at least any one type of salmon and I land a bright hatchery coho....its' coming home.
There is absolutely no justified reason to be forced to release a hatchery coho.

I can only hope that that the average angler can find a host of other reasons to vote out the current clown(s).  Recreational angling opportunities aside. We’re in big trouble.

If everyone who wants hatchery coho opened in the Fraser concurrent with chum openings, emails to DFO to that effect are more likely to get that. Waiting for the next election and a change in Government will not.

Really what you want makes perfect sense. Possible DFO hasn't thought about it.

You know, I really wonder what these people are doing for 40 hours a week. Doesn't take long to publish a fishery notice that is 96% the same as all the other ones they've posted before.. They surely aren't thinking hard about the decisions they are making...

go work there. You may be surprised.

BTW the sort of crap you wrote above does nothing to get the opening on coho people are asking for.

Darko is right. DFO white collar incompetents have proven their uselessness over and over again for decades now.

Changing the government isn't going to make one iota of difference. Look how the cod fishery in Atlanta Canada was managed by both the Conservative and Liberal governments.

Ralph, when you say email DFO, do you have a good contact or does anyone else have a good contact that we can email.
It would be nice to email the person or dept who puts these notices out.
Just a gentle reminder to them is maybe all they need and all we need.
Rodney, any contact on your list that might help?
Cheers
