It was. I called a DFO office and they had an FO call me back. I left it at that.

So has anyone been fishing on the Lower Fraser since it's been open 3 days? I have been wondering about water clarity. I went over at Mission and Alex Fraser a few days ago and the river looked brown.

It opens Oct 31st right? I didnt check them out but will toss a spoon anyway since its close to my place

Open Oct 31 Below Port Mann.

Open Nov 2 Below Mission Bridge.

I'll be heading out Nov 2.

Looking forward to it.

I'll be going out with my kid. He's too young to fish on the tributaries, but this allows him to sit in a camping chair and watch the rod in the holder and stay safe on the bank. My expectations are not high as it is very late in the season for the coho run on the Fraser, but this will satisfy his want to go fishing for salmon and some quality time together.

I grew up bar fishing the lower fraser in the early 90's and remember having a blast, the bites were not frequent but spending time on the bar with my uncle and other regulars telling stories was great.

Early 80s for myself. The best of times. Still hard to believe it’s been taken away.

for everyone's attention:

The chum and coho  openings have been amended to disallow the use of bait when fishing for salmon in the non-tidal section of the Fraser river from Mission Bridge up to Hope;

60s pour moi. People still do it. My wife's grandfather & grandmother kept a trailer at Duncan Bar from late Sept into Nov. We'd visit them and fish. I took her up there a year or 2 ago when we went for a drive to Fort Langley. People were bar fishing with roe just like we did for cohoe. Just tell the FO you are fishing for sturgeon.

So managed to get a day on the Fraser today.
First couple of weeks in November can be pretty good in the Tidal.
Headed to the river this morning and was on the river by 6:45 new time.
Got set up and sat and waited for that first bite.
First bite didn't come till 10:30.  And I missed it.
A short time later I had another bite, solid hook set. Landed a 3-4ft Sturgeon.
Then it was quiet again till 12:30.  A flurry of bites, one after another but was not able to hook up.
Then for the next couple of hours I landed 3 wild coho and two more Sturgeon that broke me off.
Along with a number of misses.
I really thought I was going to get skunked today. But things really turned around.
I will be back out again Tuesday giving it a go.
I will give the Vedder a couple of days to get back into shape after the storm.
