Katzie First Nations Upper Pitt River reclamation work
« on: November 20, 2024, 10:28:44 AM »

"Katzie First Nation reconnects creeks and sloughs with Pitt River in bid to bring back salmon, protect against extreme weather.

Much of the damage to the watershed's streams stretches back more than 100 years ago, when logging operations helped to cut off tributaries from the Pitt River — a problem that extends beyond the territory of the Katzie and into the wider Lower Fraser River."

A Global News video piece about the project.

I was unable to find the same clip on the Global News website, so presumably the link above will only work on Apple products.

Years ago, we fished Red Slough a number of times for cutthroat. Even though, back then, it was a relatively stagnant piece of water with only tidal action creating flow, it was a very good fishery. It would be interesting to get back now that river flow has been restored and salmon have returned!

Here is the article Clarki, you just had to google it instead of going to Globals site. I spent 1/2 hour on Globals f’d up site and couldn’t find it but the wife proudly said “is this it?: to my chagrin. https://globalnews.ca/video/10886296/bc-river-undergoes-historic-salmon-habitat-restoration

We'd definitely be using chagrin less often. But, then I'd probably know what exactly onlyfans is.

But on topic, bringing water into the top of Red Slough again is fantastic news.
